Release 3.9¶

Deployed on October 7, 2026

Patch updates are listed on the dedicated Release 3.9 Hotfixes page.

This release focuses on the accuracy and timeliness of routine immunization monitoring. Stationary activity figures (outreach sessions and fixed posts) are now updated faster each night, neighbouring sites are easier to tell apart on the map, and team and total durations shown on the dashboard are corrected so that supervisors and M&E officers can rely on them when reviewing team performance. It also makes exports, archived Tracking Rounds and microplan maps more dependable. Release 3.9 includes all corrections delivered in Hotfix 3.8.2, deployed on the same day.

Updates & Maintenance¶

  • Automatic archiving of all inactive Tracking Rounds Tracks from Tracking Rounds that are no longer active are now moved to archive storage whatever their size, whereas previously only the largest rounds were archived. This keeps live campaigns fast to load, while archived tracks remain available through track exports (#6391).

  • More dependable background calculations When a calculation is restarted, GTS now makes sure the previous run is fully stopped before a new one begins. This prevents two calculations of the same Tracking Round from running in parallel, which could delay indicator updates or produce inconsistent figures (#6466).

  • New background map for microplans Microplan moderation maps, validated maps and microplan PDFs now use a light OpenStreetMap background (OpenStreetMap Light); satellite imagery remains available for PDFs with the PDF Basemap setting. The previous map provider started requiring an access key, which could leave maps without a background; the new map keeps the same soft look so health facilities and localities stay easy to read (#6491).

  • More reliable track copies between Field Activities Copies of tracks from one Field Activity to another, made by the GTS support team on request (see Hotfix 3.8.1), now run in the background, so that large copies, for example separating the tracks of social mobilisation teams from those of vaccination teams, complete reliably.

Improvements & New Features¶

  • Faster nightly routine immunization updates Stationary activity detection and its indicators now only process the data received since the previous run, instead of recalculating the whole Tracking Round every night. Results are available sooner, especially for long rounds such as yearly routine immunization reports (#6445).

  • One minimum visit duration for all stationary activity rules The stationary activity configuration now has a single Min. visit duration (t) setting (60 minutes by default) that applies to every activity type, with a clearer layout. All site types (health facility, outreach, etc.) are therefore judged against the same definition of a visit (#6421). See Stationary campaigns and fixed posts.

  • Clearer map of neighbouring activity sites When the catchment areas of nearby sites of the same type overlap, the map now splits the shared part between them, so that each place is drawn in the area of the closest site. Maps of dense areas are easier to read. This change only affects the map display, not the indicators (#6422, #6445).

  • Richer stationary activity exports Stationary activity exports now list the devices used at each site, for each day and team. One activity type can be marked as Health Facility (fixed post) in the configuration; the export then gives, for each site and team, the closest health facility visited by the same team and its distance, helping managers distinguish outreach work from fixed-post activity (#6445).

  • More accurate team duration when door-to-door and stationary activities are combined When both door-to-door tracking and stationary activity detection are enabled, the time a team spends at a detected site is counted once as stationary activity, and only door-to-door movement away from the site is added on top. Team durations no longer double count the same hours or ignore real door-to-door work near a site (#5921).

Bug Fixes & Corrections¶

  • Correct team duration for stationary activities The team duration panel showed wrong values for stationary activities, and these durations were not carried up to higher administrative levels. Team durations are now computed for each site and correctly summed at every level, from the smallest area up to the country (#6497).

  • Correct total duration accounted The Total duration accounted shown in the tooltip of the average activity figure (hourglass icon) of the map header could count some durations twice and differ from the value shown in the data panel. Both figures now match when the data panel shows the highest administrative level (#6498). See Map Indicators and Panels.

  • Consistent results on archived Tracking Rounds Tracks received late for an archived Tracking Round could trigger a new stationary activity detection on incomplete data, so the map showed fewer sites than the indicators. Stationary activity detection no longer runs on archived rounds, preserving their final results (#6464).

  • No more false export failure e-mails A short interruption with the e-mail server could make an export fail and send an Error during export of your data e-mail, even though trying again worked. GTS now retries sending automatically (#6458).

  • No more missing stationary activity sites Some sites were left out of indicators: sites located outside every area of the smallest administrative layer (for example a layer covering only part of the territory), sites skipped in some layer configurations, and sites from tracks synchronized late by devices that had been offline. Tracks without a device time now use the GPS time instead of being rejected. All of these sites are now detected and counted (#6445).

  • Working hours on the GTS Tracker app In some situations, the GTS Tracker app could wait for the next day’s tracking slot instead of starting during the Working Hours configured for the Field Activity. Working hours are now checked against the Field Activity’s local date and a reliable clock. Field devices need the updated GTS Tracker app to benefit from this correction (#6492).
